Join hands with two Chinese car manufacturers
NIRA is currently working with the two companies in the wheel slip control system industry to jointly launch three TPI ( tire pressure monitor ) applications with two Chinese automakers. These projects will not only target the Chinese domestic market, but will also target overseas markets such as the EU. According to reports, compliance with the new tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) regulatory requirements (UNECER64) is an important factor for success.
Chinese market conditions
China is currently the world's largest and fastest-growing automotive market, and its automotive technology is increasingly advanced, especially with respect to safety-related performance and auxiliary performance. TPI has entered the Chinese market through the use of various Volkswagen Group models manufactured and sold in China. With the launch of new business, NIRA is expanding its customer base and is preparing to cooperate with customers other than the Volkswagen Group in China.
As new regulations for the mandatory installation of tire pressure monitoring systems are still in the pipeline, Chinese automakers’ demand for indirect pressure measurement systems (iTPMS) continues to grow rapidly.
Looking forward to unification of tire pressure monitoring system regulations
With the sales of vehicles to major markets around the world, people are very much looking forward to the implementation of a unified tire pressure monitoring system in these markets. They also hope to establish a system that can be used in all markets worldwide. In addition, fewer purchases and higher unit development costs will lead to higher system costs, and these costs will undoubtedly be paid by consumers, but they are unwilling to pay for these additional costs. Therefore, in addition to UNECER64 in the EU and many other countries and FMVSS138 in the United States, car manufacturers and suppliers do not expect new standards to be introduced in major markets such as China.
NIRA's TPI
TPI is the flagship product of NIRA. It does not place any sensors on the tires, but it is a very effective indirect pressure measurement system solution. The product completely relies on the wheel speed to monitor the tire pressure, and mainly uses the wheel slip control related signals. Therefore, TPI is often integrated into the wheel slip control system. NIRA's TPI products have been adopted by many models of the Volkswagen Group. As of today, its global license sales have reached 4 million. This product is currently the only indirect pressure measurement system that successfully passed the US FMVSS138 test.
