Beijing time on May 24 news, according to Reuters, Mercedes-Benz announced on Saturday local time and Qualcomm reached a cooperation agreement to jointly develop technology for wireless charging of mobile phones and wireless charging of electric vehicles in the car.
This move is part of a larger effort by Mercedes-Benz and rivals BMW and Audi to develop software and communications technologies to solidify the position of high-tech automotive manufacturers.
Mercedes-Benz and Qualcomm said in a joint statement that they will evaluate the feasibility of using wireless technology to charge electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles. The two companies will also explore related technologies to enable users to wirelessly charge mobile phones and other devices while driving, and use high-speed 3G/4G connections to enhance the user experience.
